Prof. V. Appa Rao has completed M.Com., M.Phil., Ph.D. from Osmania University. He did M.Phil., and Ph.D. research work in the sugar industry. He joined Osmania University in 1991 and completed 33 years of service in teaching. He taught several papers for B.Com. and M.Com., students. His area of academic interest is accounting and management accounting. Previously, he worked as Senior Professor of Commerce, Department of Commerce, O.U., Chairman, Board of Studies in Commerce, Director, University Foreign Relations Office, Osmania University and Executive Council Member of Osmania University. He has published 30 papers in National and International repute journals. He attended more than 50 national/international conferences and seminars. He guided and produced three (3) M.Phil., Scholars and eleven (11) Ph.D. Scholars. He actively involved in University administration and held many positions like; Dean, Faculty of Commerce, O.U., Principal, University College of Commerce & Business Management, O.U., Controller of Examinations, O.U. Director, B.C Cell, O.U., Joint Director, Directorate of Admissions, O.U., Additional Controller of Examinations, O.U., Vice-Principal, UCC&BM, O.U, etc. He retired from the Department of Commerce, Osmania University in the year 2024. Presently, working as the Principal of Avanthi Degree and P.G. College, Barkathpura and Narayanaguda, Hyderabad.
